Applebee's From U.S.A to Jakarta

On 6th January, me and my friends visited one of the famous restaurant in U.S.A named Applebee’s. First I’m gonna tell you short history about this restaurant. The Applebee’s chain was started by Bill and T.J. Palmer who opened their first restaurant, T.J. Applebee’s Rx for Edibles & Elixirs, in Decatur, Georgia on November 19, 1980. After opening their second restaurant the pair sold their company to W.R. Grace and Company in 1983. As part of the transactions, Bill Palmer was named president of the Applebee’s Division, an indirect subsidiary of W.R. Grace and Company. In that capacity, Palmer guided the operation from its entrepreneurial beginnings to a full-fledged franchise system. He became an Applebee’s franchise in 1985. In 1986, the name of the concept was changed to Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill and Bar to reflect the Palmer’s original concept of a place people could call their own. In 1988, Applebee’s International Inc became the restaurant chain’s franchiser when Kansas City franchisees Abe Gustin and John Hamra purchased the rights to the Applebee’s concept from W.R. Grace. On July 16, 2007, IHOP Corp(now DineEquity) announced that it agreed to buy Applebee’s International for about $2.1 Billion. With their merger in November 2007 Applebee’s and IHOP combined to make the largest full service restaurant company in the world with more than 3,250 locations. As of December 2011, there were 2,019 restaurants operating system-wide in the United States, one of U.S territory (Puerto Rico) and 15 other countries.

The company headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri after moving from Lenexa Kansas in September 2011. And now Applebee’s opened their new outlet in Indonesia, located in Plaza Senayan to be exact. This place is huge, a good place to hang and maybe talk about some business in here I think, because this restaurant has comfy sofa and some LCD TV that hang on the wall that you could watch while waiting for the food to come.

Interior

The manager said it can be filling by 250 people. Funny thing is one of my friends was amazed with their toilet because he said the toilet itself has a big space just like standard toilet in the America.

Interior
Enough talking about history and their interior because now I’m gonna talk about the foods that will make you hungry. We ordered a lot of food in here. First one is called fiesta lime chicken (IDR 119k) it consist grilled chicken done fiesta-style with a zesty lime sauce and top it with jack-cheddar and mexi-ranch and serve it up with crisp tortilla strips, seasoned rice and fresh de gallo. The lime was taste light that gave a good taste to grilled chicken and meat was soft.

Fiesta Lime Chicken

The second one is called oriental chicken salad (IDR 79k) it consist fresh Asian greens tossed in a tasty oriental vinaigrette and topped with crispy rice noodles, toasted almonds and golden fried chicken tenders. I loved this salad, it tasted sweet, tasty and they were so fresh, I loved the sweetness from the apple.

Oriental Chicken Salad

The third one is called ceviche for two (IDR 119k) exquisite mix of shrimp and white fish, tomatoes, red onions and cilantro marinated in fresh lime juice. Served with tortilla chips, marinated onions, pico de gallo and avocado that you could enjoy three ways. It tasted delicious especially the mix of shrimp and white fish, salty and a lil bit sour.

Ceviche for Two

The fourth is called quesadilla burger (IDR 139k) a juicy burger with their signature mexi-ranch sauce with pico de gallo and shredded lettuce. This one was delicious and the beef was tasted great.

The Center One(Down) is The Quesadilla Burger

The fifth is called savory chicken and portobellos (IDR 119k) it consist sautéed chicken breast topped with Swiss cheese Portobello mushrooms and a rosemary red wine sauce. The delicious one that also served with garlic mashed potatoes but honestly for the mashed potatoes it kinda tasteless because I didn’t really feel the flavor from the garlic itself at all.

Savory Chicken Portobellos

The sixth is called napa chicken and portobellos (IDR 119k) it consist a grilled chicken breast topped with Portobello mushrooms and unions smothered in a rich red wine sauce. Same as delicious like savory chicken. The difference is this one has <600 calories, so if you’re on diet this dish might be suitable for you :D.

The Right One is The Napa Chicken and Portobellos

The seventh is called ultimate trios (IDR 229k) just like the name it was served with three dishes, mozzarella stick, wonton taco, spinach and artichoke dips. The dip make these three dishes became perfect because the sauce was given the best.

Ultimate Trios

The last one is called Korean short ribs (IDR 169k) this one was really bad, the ribs was tasted bitter and the vegetables itself was tasted not so fresh like it shriveled.

Korean Short Ribs

For the beverages I only took two beverages photo.  The decadent shake (IDR 29k) its vanilla milkshake and tasted too sweet.

Decadent Shake

Virgin Bahama Mama (IDR 59k) it consist Bacardi rum, Malibu rum, crème de banana liqueur,  pineapple juice, orange juice and grenadine, a great mix cocktail that tasted real good I loved it.

Virgin Bahama Mama

And For the dessert we ordered blue ribbon brownies (IDR 69k) baked with chunks of dark chocolate and nuts, draped in hot fudge and served with 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream.  I loved the brownies, it tasty and the sweetness was really perfect.
