Soup Restaurant The House of Chinatown Heritage Cuisine

On 28th November I was coming to openrice gathering in senayan city, thanks to my friend dandy and openrice for inviting me to Soup Restaurant, Senayan City on Friday. Soup restaurant was opened in 2004 which located in Plaza Indonesia for their first outlet. By the time passed Soup Restaurant continue their succeed and now in June 2014 soup restaurant was opened their new outlet in senayan city on fourth floor near best danki to be exact. Soup restaurant is using house of Chinatown heritage cuisine for their concept. But in each of their outlet they have a different Chinatown heritage cuisine concept to create and feel an old Chinese atmospheric as you can see from my photos. I like their concept especially for the wood that dominating this restaurant concept but what I don’t like from this restaurant is the indoor lighting, when you wanna take a photo shoot for foods and drinks, you know its kinda dark in here. 

Alright let’s talk about the menu in here. Soup restaurant has a signature dish that is called Samsui Ginger Chicken, it’s a chicken that served with ginger sauce. Now I’m gonna talk a lil bit story from samsui ginger chicken. This samsui chicken ginger chicken Is consume once in a year, in china new year period. Before the food comes I ordered this amazing drink, the fragrant aroma and the color from this drink is pretty, this drink is called Chrysanthemum Tea(IDR 12k), it’s a tea from chrysanthemum leaf in china, it’s so hard to spell this tea name right haha.

And then the food comes, but the first one come on the table was the dessert, funny you know because dessert was supposed to come in the end. The dessert is called Kui Ling Kau(IDR 25k), kui ling kau is one the famous Chinese herbal jelly that can reduce acne and provide a good skin complexion, also made with powdered plastron shell from the golden coin turtle, it tasted bitter if you don’t pour the honey so I recommend you to not forget to pour the honey to this great dessert.

Pir dengan Jamur Putih dan Almond(IDR 25k), it consist double pear with snow fungus and almonds, the almond and the pear was good but it tasted almost plain like a mineral water but it was fresh, the only thing it’s sweet because it’s from the pear maybe you could’ve put some sugar in to this dish so it will taste of something.

Samsui Ginger Chicken, It’s quite expensive thou for a small one it cost IDR 95k and the large one IDR 190k, but you’re not gonna regret it because this samsui ginger chicken will burst your mouth of oily goodness, it consist chicken, scoop of oily ginger dip, a few slices of cucumber wrap with piece of iceberg lettuce.

Teo Chew Olive Rice(IDR 48k) teo chew preserved black olives mixes with a plain rice. As you can know black olives is known to stimulate appetite and aids in the process of slimming. It tasted good and another healthy food for you to eat in here.

Claypot Tofu(IDR 40k) I like this tofu because it’s so soft and yummy, a delicious contrast between the tofu and savoury sauce that will indulge your plate.

Selada Saus Tiram(IDR 45) it consist fried lettuce with  oyster sauce, I like this one because it tasty especially the taste of the oyster sauce is really great, from the look it may looks bad but you should try it.

Mie Goreng dengan Fillet Ikan(IDR 48K) it consist fried noodle with fish slices, it tasted like mie remes actually, but I like it because it’s crunchy and the fish was delicious.

Steam San Yu Fillet(IDR 75k) or you could called it Steam Garoupa Slices, it’s a typical Chinatown family dish, it tasty and fresh, it consist san yu slice lightly steamed and topped with a special made sauce.

Sio Mak Cah Ikan Tausi(IDR 45k) damn I gotta to say this man this one is really a bad dish because it tasted really bitter but it’s really good for your healthy because it’s herbal.
